We take up again the series of references LOFTY with this new work of Games Addiction, alias of the disturbing sonorous artist Darío Moratilla. Recordings of field and dense atmospheres are the starting point of this astral trip through layers and layers of irritating frequencies and twisted clickeos high to the square. Putting out the light, sit down in front of your monitors and clasp you the belt, the count down has begun.

Use the Impulse.aiff soundfile in the 'Klanghausen' project folder (download from the .microsound server) or make your own impulse sound file in Peak, Cool Edit, PD or Max/MSP. First build a library of sounds created by sending your impulse through various types of plugins. Then create a new piece using this library.

Este proyecto nace como una invitación a la colaboración de distintos creadores en una idea común.
Se trata de investigar en el campo sonoro más inmediato, el interior de nuestra casas. La idea es realizar una composición utilizando como fuentes sonoras , los diferentes objetos o seres que se encuentran en el interior de la vivienda de cada uno (o aquellos que provengan de fuera pero se escuchen desde ésta). Estos sonidos pueden ser procesados de cualquier manera, siempre que provengan o sean registrados en el interior de la casa. De esta manera se produce por un lado el esfuerzo siempre interesante de tener autolimitaciones o reglas a la hora de la composición. Por otro lado se establece una relación explicita y directa entre nuestro entorno mas inmediato y la creación musical. De manera que el entorno casi es la musica.

Mirando a traves de la ventana is an audio performance created usiey hugor bng a technique coined "FROTAGE" by Moratilla, which is a variation on an approach adopted by surrealist artists. While these artists used charcoal and paper to create forms on different surfaces, the Spanish artist has exploited the potential of a laptop with incorporated microphone.
Sounds and noises are recorded then processed on the hard disk, using a number of technical processes in sound apps... to create original sounds.
The composition was created in real-time and incorporates sounds produced by acoustic sources such as the piano and guitar...
Each performance is unique, as it is unpredictable because of the precarious nature of the software used and will be more or less intense depending on the context.
The work was inspired by events in the world and how the media in the States, Spain and GB for example portray reality.
The artist wishes to dedicate this concert to all those who are suffering from the oppression of the Wall Israel is building. The concert will not be dedicated to those people who – in earning their living – play a part in making conditions of life worse around the world.


Este músico electroacústico, enamorado del riesgo de lo inmediato, del manoseo
directo tanto como de la escucha acusmática, esto es de la escucha a oscuras, sin
sombras ni imágenes que dispersen la concentración, o que concreten el andar del
minutero mientras nos sumergimos en el océano de los formantes sónicos. Este hombre
generoso y comprometido nos ofrece “Mirando a través de la ventana”. Esta audio-
performance consiste en aplicar al mundo sonoro la técnica “frotage” de los surrea-
listas, sólo que mientras ellos usaban el carboncillo y las diferentes
rugosidades de la superficie del papel, Moratilla explota la versatilidad del roce y lameteo de la superficie de un micrófono. Así los sonidos y ruidos que el resbale y frote produce se procesan en el disco duro para devenir materia original, objeto sonoro encontrado, y puede que elaborado. Editor/Tecnico de sonido (C.E.S.) y dj radiofónico durante 5 años en radioarrebato con el Programa No Frills (Djitter) desde 1994-99. Destacado representante de la nueva generacion de músicos electronicos españoles, basa toda su obra en la creación y manipulación de audio digital, la descontextualización de diversas grabaciones de campo y las posibilidades del error y lo aleatorio. De formación autodidacta esta interesado en la Acción/Sonido/Ruido sin discurso, aprender a "Escuchar", la cultura Rave y el trabajo en tiempo-real. Su aproximación al sonido y al proceso compositivo parte de una estética sonora amiga de los extremos, la experiencia acusmática y los juegos de percepción. En 2001 recibio por su Obra "Modo Aleatorio" el primer premio internacional de musica electroacustica (fundacion autor). Ha presentado sus trabajos en museos, centros de arte, festivales, raves, clubs de Madrid, París, Berlín ,Taiwan, Lucca, Londres, Barcelona(...) junto a artistas como

 Nowadays living half-way between Iriepal Guadalajara, where he was born in 1974, and the world.
He bases all his music in the manipulation of the digital audio and displacement of many field records and the possibilities of chances and error as a factor of the music. His music is organic and develops, it denotes a great use of the new technologies mainly in the experimental software use. Interest in Action/Sound/noise with NO speech.
With special attention to the Real time processes, Folley sounds and ocassional process of prepared instruments. Learn to "Listen" and the space for listening are important things in his audioworks and performances.
  Interests of his audiowork are enhanced perception, acousmatic experience and the extreme.
Follower of the "Residualism", "Post digital music", "Rave Culture", "Pure listening", "Electoacustic Process" "Art Brut" and some writers like Gilles Deleuze, Masamune Shirow, Francisco Lopez.

No sé si definirlo como música o como arte general, porque es algo más que la composición armónica de notas. Ayer asistí a mi primera sesión de Los martes experimentales en Pepa Tencha, un local cálido en Malasaña. La sesión de ayer consistía en la muestra de la obra de Darío Moratilla "Syrup": una mezcla de sonido ambiental de la estación de Atocha junto a diversas distorsiones electroacústicas e improvisaciones vocales. Su propuesta es definida por dos pilares: "acción sin discurso e interés por aprender a escuchar". La combinación perfecta para cerrar los ojos y dejarte guiar por un universo de sensaciones que se encuentran en un enorme abanico de posibilidades completamente indescriptibles. Lo único de lo que me arrepiento es de no haber llevado un cuaderno para apuntar todos los sentimientos que pasaban por mi mente, desde la calma más absoluta a la rabia más intensa. Tarea difícil la de traducir con palabras algo tan interesante, y es que, aunque intente ponerlo todo con palabras, la mayoría de las veces sólo consigo dejarme llevar.

On the 12th of December 2004, the pretentiously named "Freunde guter
Musik" (transl. friends of good music) presented a triptych of Spanish
contemporary electronic musicians, which presented not only three
different generations of artists, but also a varied showcase of a country
that may be placed too seldomly on the map of electronic music.
The Maria am Ufer tends to be taken over by techno and electro fans alike
during the weekends, but proved to be a wonderful setting for this event
on the 12th of December.
With about 40-50 visitors, the place had an odd, desolate feel to it.
The fact that such an event is not able to attract more people in a city like
Berlin is odd enough in itself. The sparse use of lights and the abundance
of concrete helped to add to the tranquil atmosphere with which the
evening started. After a brief introduction of one of the people of
Freunde guter Musik, Eduardo Polonio kicks off the evening.
Next up is Darío Moratilla (a.k.a. Games Addiction), who starts off very
quietly, but soon creates thick and throbbing walls of sound resembling
manipulated recordings of the guitar. Now and then we hear recordings of
voices that seem to deal with globalization, adding to the music a more
contemplative / political edge beside the esthetic harshness. Movements
between more delicate and harsher parts continue throughout the
performance, which lasts about 45-50 minutes, which is perhaps a bit too
long, but remains interesting nonetheless

Las diversas relaciones existentes entre propiedad intelectual y censura, desde el establecimiento del copyright en Inglaterra en 1710 como medio para controlar a los impresores hasta los casos más recientes. ¿Son los músicos que se apartan de la norma censurados sutilmente? Dario Moratilla (Games Addiction) es un destacado representante de la nueva generación española de músicos electrónicos, cuyo trabajo se basa en la manipulación del sonido por medios digitales, experimentando con software y nuevas tecnologías, y explorando las posibilidades del error y lo aleatorio como un factor importante de esta música. De formación no-académica, recibió sin embargo en el año 2001 el primer premio de la SGAE de Música Electroacústica por una de sus obras.En su actuación presentará su nuevo trabajo Searching The Maze, desarrollado a partir de la manipulación de sonidos de guitarra, bajo y piano principalmente.
